Grabbing a Couple-a-Cuts at the Penguins Game!  Revello’s at the Arena!

Revello’s Old Forge Pizza at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Revello’s Pizza is one of the best known pizzerias both inside and out of NEPA.  They are a long time fixture in The Pizza Capital of the World, Old Forge, PA but have been steadily expanding to locations like the Mohegan Sun Arena, The Marketplace at Steamtown, PNC Field, Kingston, and Drums.  They even ship their pizza around the country.

The cheese stuck to the lid of the box, thus the sauce spot in the middle!

While attending a Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins game, I spotted the Revello’s location just inside the main entrance and had to grab a few slices.  At $7, it was a decent value for arena food, but still a little on the pricey side overall.  I popped open the box for a pic and I was pretty impressed that it was still pretty fresh and hot.  The crust was the best part as it was neatly browned on the bottom, light, and crisp.  The sauce had some tang acidity to it as most Old Forge sauces do, and the cheese laid lightly melted on top.  Overally, a very solid version of the Revello’s traditional red tray.  It’s amazing how they have been able to scale up to multiple locations so quickly and keep similar quality to the original location.

Nothing like a cut of Old Forge red pizza at the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins Game!

I think the big question is, if they keep expanding, will Old Forge pizza sell outside of NEPA?  An interesting case study!  I’d love to know how people who never tried this unique style of pizza would react to it initially.  Thoughts?
